A Study on the cognition and Realities of postpartum care


Abstract
Objectives : A woman recovers from physical and psychological changes resulting from pregnancy after delivery. They need some help for postpartum care in puerperium. Recently, as the role of woman in society increases and they are well-educated, they need postpartum care with specialty.
In Aug. 1998, we set up postpartum care center in Conmaul Oriental hospital and 584 inpatients admitted. This study is to analyze the cognition and realities of postpartum care and to aid the progress and the spread of oriental medical postpartum care.
Methods : We studied the cognition and realities of postpartum care with questionnaire from Jan. 2000 to Sep. 2000, in Conmaul Oriental Hospital. A questionnaire was given to 203 inpatients for postpartum care and 141 inpatients answered.
Results and conclusions : We can find that 98.58% of 141 inpatients agreed to the necessity of the postpartum care and they laid emphasis on systemic and special care and oriental medical care.
After oriental medical care in postpartum care center, their symptoms improved. We need to study the postpartum care as the part of Oriental Gynecology.
